Robert Cowan is an experienced Consulting Civil,
Structural and Geotechnical Engineer.
He graduated from University College London in 1969 and, following
training with an international contractor, worked with several consulting
engineers both overseas and in the UK before setting up in private
practice in 1979.
Much of Robert Cowan’s experience relates to building structures.
This includes the design and supervision of construction in reinforced
concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber, both on new buildings
and in the refurbishment of older buildings. Civil Engineering experience
is primarily on infrastructure projects involving drainage, roads,
retaining walls and coastal defence. Geotechnical Engineering experience
includes site investigations, contamination assessments, flood risk
assessments, slope stability and foundation design.
Robert Cowan is frequently involved in the investigation of defects
on both existing structures and with new construction. This includes
detailed analysis and assessment of problems and the preparation
of technical reports. When required, advice is given on disputes
including expert witness services.
